Janean Guz: They lower one or more of the air craft elevators down to the hanger level, and then attach a mobile stair case or gangway to the elevator, and for larger items such as vehicles they attach a mobile ramp to one of the aircraft elevators, and that is how people and vehicles go on and off the ship while in port. Been on a few aircraft carriers while I was in the navy to deliver supplies.
