Reverse chronological order or most relevant first is best. Also, make sure to put the info in a table (the format doesn't show up when it's copied and pasted) b/c it looks SO much better. limit it to one page with margins as small as 0.5". Another thing, try to find somewhere to get it reviewed by a professional. The Employment Commission does that..BTW, when u format it n a table, make sure u make the borders invisible b4 u print it off or whatever.Best of luck getting employment... i! t's tough out there.Add: lmao! yahoo bleeped out my honors in my resume! ! o yeah! use action verbs to start out the list of stuff u did and briefly describe how it was done....Show more
Bob Nakamoto: This is very sweat & heart touching poem. Title may be Happiness.
Anton Waln: You've got the basic info, but overall it needs improvement. There are far too many complete sentences, weird sentence fragments, and strange non-English words ("Constructioning" isn't a word). Objective is not a place for self-puffery, but rather a place to show where your (his) skills meet the prospective employers. As in "Objective: To bring my unique skill sets in the construction industry and sign-making to a dynamic company involved in many aspects of public communication and building maintenance."I think work history should be listed before education and licensing, but that may have changed as resume styles change. I'd suggest doing some research online to find the current resume style.High School Education does not need to be listed. Successful completi! on of High School is implied by listing college education.Work history should give a sense of how long he was employed at each position, usually not precise dates but rather length of years as in "14 years", "5 years" etc. Also, the current trend is not to list tasks but rather challenges or successes enjoyed at each company - essentially how his employment allowed the company to make more money. "One Stop Home Renovation: 5 years. Using my skills in Foundation, Framing, Plumbing, Electrical, Drains, Repiping, Floor tiles, and Gardening, I was able to manage projects from both a budgetary and time-management perspective, bringing several large contracts in early and under budget." This allows the hiring manager to ask some questions about various projects and how your dad achieved success.Additional information appears to be a repeat of the Objective statement in your resume. Additional information should never mention children (its against HR policy to even ask about child! ren). This is the place to mention additional skills, such as his langu! age skills or additional training like the Roxbury Management course....Show more
Roni Kurz: A CV should be less of a life story and more like a series of bullet points. You should have a letter of application for a job and a CV as separate items and although they may overlap they should not be the same.So in skills for example I would show it as follows....Skills:Installation of kitchen cabinetsRoofing & roof repairsCarpentryand so on. One thing I would say is make the CV match the job. If you find a maintenance job advert that mentions a requirement for flooring, put that in. Make sure the CV has all the key requirements that are mentioned in the advert. So if it says 2 years experience in flooring, you need to put in 2 or more years experience. Many HR departments simply check through the letter and CV to see if you match the key requirements and if they don't find what they are after you don't get the interview. Also, keep it relatively brief as too much detail can! bore people. Perhaps less of the personal detail. Your question is touching and if I had a job, I would hire your father. Good luck...Show more
Pam Rampadarat: i truly agree with adanna
Kalyn Proietto: i few things about resumes, it should only be one page. well, it could be more. but, one page seems more organized and "professional" and you should only use the standard font, "new times romen" some things could be in "bold" but, you should limit yourself to using creative fonts. and it all depends where your trying to get hired. depending on the place of employment, you should have a different looking resume.and that guys website is where i went to get information on mines lol. GL!...Show more
