Vernita Robberson: Commuting is never deductible, no.
Elaina Adolfson: Unlikely.1. You would have to show that this temporary job location was outside your metropolitan work area. 90 minutes vs 30 minutes doesn't cut it in most places.2. You would have to show that you had a reasonable expectation that the assignment would last less than a year. Your description does NOT meet this....Show more
Randa Hessell: Daily transportation from home to work or from work to home is not deductible. If you worked at both places on the same day, then you can deduct the transportation from one company to the other (but not the transportation from home to either company or from either company to home). If you worked far enough way that you had to stay there overnight, then the expenses for that and for transportation are deductible, but only for the time before you learned that it would last a year or longer. You cannot the deduct the expenses for transportation after you l! earned it would be permanent. If you decide to move to be closer to company B, and then you may be able to deduct moving expenses, including transportation one time, one way, for yourself, your furniture, etc....Show more
Toney Flaten: It's not deductible because it's still commuting. If they sent you a distance away that you couldn't commute, had to stay there overnight for the week, it would be.
