Video Camera Field Camera?

Vernita Robberson: I'm assuming I'm going to be looking for a minidv camera?

Madlyn Fallis: "hate the quality and look of video camcorders and I have used field cameras and studio cameras in broadcasting and I like the quality of the cameras much better"...I don't know exactly what there is to "hate" about the portables... but if want the video look different from a consumer camcorder, then you are probably looking for something more along the lines of progressive scan (rather than interlaced) video images.Canon HV20Canon XHA1Panasonic DVX100 seriesSony HVR-V1U, HVR-Z1U, HVR-Z7UPanasonic HVX200 series, HVX300 series...Of course, your video editor needs to be able to handle the video you capture. Francisco Schonhardt: The Canon HV30 would be my choice for MiniDV.It shoots in HiDef as well as StandardDef and has the 24P mode for that Hollywood cinema look. It will al! so record in 30P HiDef for projects with alot of movement/action to get rid of most blur that 24P can have.It also shoots in standard def 60i for home movie quality. This camera has a phenomenal quality and shoots well in low light. It has a hot shoe for external lights or mics and can be had for $718-$999.I use this camera for the exact same thing you are using, and you will not be dissapointed. ...Show more
